Arcade Fire - Neon Bible

Release Date: March 6, 2007

Less emotion. Less epic. Still somehow really good. Just don't start comparing to Funeral. "No Cars Go" rocks so hard.

I think "Neon Bible" should be listened to as a complete work - a televangelist concept album - instead of a collection of songs that are not quite as epic as their previous work. "Funeral" was composed with far more visceral emotions in mind, whereas this album attempts to cover topics of morality and hypocrisy in an indirect way.

That said, I find this album is far more entrenched in the Bruce Springsteen songwriting formula than other recent rock albums(i.e. Hold Steady), especially, tracks like "(Antichrist Television Blues)".

Oh yeah, I'm also really happy with the version of No Cars Go!

As soon as I listened to it, I thought of Bruce too.

No Cars Go turned out amazing. I'm still digesting the rest of it.
